Are these life choices we make?
Open prisons
Dictated lessons
Maggie’s farm sessions,
Nuts and bolts
Bricks in walls
Sunday evening
Curtain falls.
Do you use your creative mind space?
Hammering coal, from the mans coal face,
Or do you dare for something bigger?
Be brave and pull your own life’s trigger.
We are all sold a great big lie,
Careers matter
Ask yourself why?
Button shirt
Tie straight,
Groundhog journey
Mustn’t be late.
With a two-fingered salute
And clenched fist wave,
Make time to catch,
Times passing wave.

My name is Charlie Hasler, I live in North Wales with my fiancé. I work at Law firm based in Chester and write in my spare time.
My writing started a few years ago but was something I always put down more than I picked up.
After a tough couple of years I felt I had some things I needed to say so I have found myself writing again.
My writing mainly focuses around poetry.
I have self published two poetry books, which are both available on Amazon, Words From An Unlikely Poet, and, Words From An Unlikely Poet: Volume 2: Further Thoughts.
Aside from writing I also enjoy walking, reading, gardening and boxing, though I am more a spectator now days.

Hello, Charlie,
Recently I’ve discovered your blog and I feel like I should manifest my admiration towards the musicality you seem to be able to render your words without sacrificing the depth to which they can reach. I am definitely a fan of that and I always strive to fulfill this ideal as well. I’ve still much to learn it seems.
I know this is rather bold of me but, if at all possible, I would like to address some questions to you privately. Strictly related to the technical part of owning and managing a poetry blog. Some guidelines, if you will. Just name a suitable online platform or an e-mail and I will comply.
Thank you in advance and keep up the amazing work!

This poem bought back some memories for me and feelings with it. Your poem says how it is and the same memories and feelings I can remember.
